A large group of students has taken to the university’s entrances and administrative buildings, demanding clarity on their admission status after their applications remained stuck on "provisionally accepted."
Despite being hopeful about starting their academic journey, many students were left in limbo, unable to proceed with registration. Some claim they have met all the requirements but have not received final confirmation of their placement, leaving them uncertain about their future.
"We were excited to start the year, but now we’re stuck in this frustrating situation. Some of us don’t even know if we should still be looking for alternative options," said one student, who joined the protest alongside others.
University officials have yet to provide a concrete resolution, only stating that the issue is being reviewed. In the meantime, NMU has continued classes online, but many affected students argue that this is not a solution.
“We cannot focus on online learning while our academic future is hanging in the balance,” another student added.
The protest, which began peacefully, has intensified, with students blocking some campus entry points and demanding urgent intervention from university management. They insist that unless their placement statuses are updated, the demonstrations will continue.
As tensions rise, NMU has urged students to remain patient while they work to resolve the issue, but with the academic year already underway, students say they cannot afford further delays.
